Mary and her team have been engaged in the Leverage Fund and as capacity building partners since Dogwood Health Trust’s inception. Mary and her team are incredibly relational and have brought millions of dollars in grant funding to grassroots, BIPOC-led and serving organizations in Western North Carolina. We have always received rave reviews and repeat requests for their work.
— Jessika Bond, Dogwood Health Trust, Sustainable Organizations Team
I have led a nonprofit that helped communities organize to build free medical clinics throughout North Carolina and I now work in the philanthropic world. Mary Snow and I began working together in 2015 as my organization was making significant investments in McDowell County. Mary has been instrumental in working with grantees and grassroots leaders to improve the health and well-being of their community. Mary is a passionate professional who continues to exceed expectations. She has been a consistent and strategic thought partner for community members, nonprofit organizations, and foundations. It has been a pleasure working with someone who cares deeply for community members, their vision and goals for an even brighter tomorrow.

— Jason Baisden, Program Officer Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust
Mary Snow is full of passion, energy, and vision. She came into my community with a respect for our history, culture, and a belief in our people. She listened to us with intentionality and partnered with us to make our dreams a reality as a white ally to my community. For the first time in my life I believe that positive change is possible. Mary started as a support partner to facilitate forums in our community and she was instantly embraced by our community. She has a spirit and kindness about her that makes you feel comfortable to be open and honest, share your vision for your community, and help bring to life wrongs you have felt forever but was never brave enough to say. She has coached and trained me in my new position and given me the courage to step up for my community in ways I never dreamed.
— Paula Swepson, Executive Director of the West Marion Community Forum
“ I have had the good fortune to work with Mary Snow in several capacities - as a facilitator, a grant writer, and a community organizer. She portrays all the skills, knowledge, and talents reflected in the word “professional”. If you are looking for someone who is able to connect with people, is a problem solver, and is fun to work with, no one better fits the bill!”
— Becky Ceperley Executive Director West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities Former President and CEO The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation
I have been fortunate to work alongside Mary Snow in the Marion East Community Forum as part of the Community Engagement Project. Mary took the time to learn about the work I do in the community and offered her exclusive support and encouragement. Through her provision and advocacy my confidence and voice was strengthened. I have also become more involved in efforts to build stronger communities. She inspired me to make my voice known and to push through with the work I am passionate about which is destigmatizing substance use and mental health disorders while promoting more intensive resources. Through her work I have seen the community grow closer, gaps being bridged and unlikely connections and partnerships have been made. Sometimes all it takes for miracles to happen is for someone to believe in you and start a conversation.
